The Tyneside Book Club entered 2016 with a new website to spread the word, and stop the incessant questions about which book we are reading next, and who is choosing next month! All that information is now handily available on the site. January's meeting discussed Under the Frog by Tibor Fischer. It was Bruce's choice. It followed a group of young basketball players in Hungary in the run-up to the 1956 uprising and its suppression. Vile weather meant attendance was pretty limited, but it led to some good discussion. All agreed the book was well-written but levels of engagement were varied. The consensus seemed to be that it finished more strongly than it started. Let's hope the same is true for the book club in 2016!
